They can also try their hand at the unusual 18-hole crazy-golf course, not forgetting the beach is just 1.5km away. The picturesque old port of Roscoff is near by and offers boat trips to the island of Batz.

There is a pizzeria on site, but no shop or restaurant, however there is a supermarket and a choice of bars and restaurants just a short walk away.

In fact, in early and late summer the park is especially suited to those wanting a quiet holiday with small children and having direct access to the sandy banks of the river Elle it really comes into it's own.

Club Farret is a part of the Yelloh Village chain of campsites. A family run park, it offers everything that you would wish for in a sun and sand holiday, with plenty to do for the whole family. Set close to a long stretch of golden sandy beach this is a lively site with some great facilities. A lagoon style pool complex is a real suntrap, surrounded as it is by palms and shrubs. Children are well catered for with their own separate pool and seven playgrounds. For older children and adults there are also a wide range of sports activities ranging from table tennis to archery. Le Farret benefits from direct access to a wonderful sandy Mediterranean beach and the site's excellent restaurant and pirate-themed bar facilities have more than enough to entertain you for the duration of your stay, however if you can tear yourself away from the park a short 500m walk will take you directly into Vias Plage with its lively bars, restaurants and nightclubs.

Le Moulin de Paulhiac has a beautifully restored watermill that welcomes you at the entrance and is a rural park with large grassy pitches set amidst the dappled shade of walnut, oak and apple trees. The owners also organise activities in high season, which include popular canoe trips. This is the real heart of the Dordogne too, with rolling wooded hillsides, sleepy, honey-coloured villages, crumbling old farmhouses and castles galore to discover.

Domaine de Massereau at Sommieres, Languedoc

Part of the prestigious Castels chain, the park owners have created a unique theme, based around the stunning wine producing chateau. Guests are able to take guided tours around the chateau and vineyard and purchase a wide variety of wine that the estate produces every year. The pitches are located amongst tranquil and picturesque oak trees and the facilities including a heated swimming pool and park restaurant, will appeal to families with young children. There is also an indoor spa, jacuzzi and sauna, and in May, June and September, you will get a free 45 minute session when you spend more than 3 nights on park (small charge otherwise). Off park try trekking at the Camargue National Park or take a ride along the 25 miles of purpose built cycle track which runs from Sommieres through the park itself.
