Les Grottes de Roffey at Sarlat, Dordogne

It has three pools in an excellent complex which is the park's centrepiece and the facilities here are good all round, with tennis as well as a children's play area. There is also a charming and reasonably priced restaurant which is so good it's even enjoyed by the locals, despite the presence of many first rate alternatives nearby. Pitches here are on a series of terraces, some with views over the idyllic countryside that surrounds the park and the rural setting also offers many delightful walks amongst the patchwork woods and fields.
Camping le Bois de Valmarie at Argeles, Languedoc

Camping le Bois de Valmarie is a relaxed campsite, unwind here with a refreshing drink from the snack bar, while the children have hours of fun whizzing down the water chutes in the three lagoon style pools linked by waterfalls. The terraced emplacements rise up the hillside towards the pool, from where there are outstanding views over the bay of Argeles. At the bottom of the site, surrounded by colourful flower beds, you will find the superb restaurant. Sample a delicious fresh fish dish from the extensive menu, and after dinner relax on the bar terrace with a refreshing glass of local wine.
