This pretty campsite is close to the main route on the Cherbourg peninsula making it ideal for stopovers or the whole holiday. A quiet, friendly Castels park it's a great place to simply relax while you soak up the atmosphere and enjoy its beautiful setting in the grounds of the manor house. There are some well maintained facilities, which include a remodelled covered swimming complex with slides and a water chute. There is also a sandy beach close to the village of St Pair-sur Mer which is just over 2 miles away. There is also fishing on the little lake, free of charge. Ideal for young families, the friendly owners work extremely hard to make your stay here enjoyable.

This first rate, steeply terraced park with its ochre buildings blends into the scenery so well that when you first set eyes on the glorious swimming pools, they create a quite startling contrast. The heated, jungle themed children's pool is not to be missed. Esterel really is a perfect holiday location, with an excellent restaurant and disco on the park and a night club and golf courses close by. The Esterel hills, with their wooded slopes and pink outcrops, are also truly breathtaking. It's an ideal spot for nature lovers, with many superb walks, from gentle strolls to robust hikes. For more sophisticated pleasures, you are also just a couple of miles drive through a wooded valley to Agay, with its pavement cafes and sandy beach.

La Pergola at Lac de Chalain, Jura

This award winning park is situated on the shoreline of the Lac de Chalain and is a great place to explore the lakes and mountains of this wonderful area. Lac de Chalain has a superb family atmosphere with a good range of facilities including a superb pool complex with sunbathing area and a flower decked bar and restaurant terrace. In high season the site becomes very lively, with plenty of organised entertainment. There's also a lakeside beach where you can swim, canoe and windsurf. Set in the grounds of a partly restored 16th century chateau, this is an attractively laid out park with plenty of open space for children to play in, mature woodlands to explore and good sized pitches.

Within 1/2 a mile of a sandy beach Cote de Nacre is a site with plenty to do including a tropical pool complex with swimming pool, water slides and chutes. There is a covered pool which is heated and a childrens splash pool. For those looking to relax there is a sauna and Hammam, There is a playground for smaller children and organised activities for children aged 7-10 years from mid July to August. For older children there is table tennis and table football as well as outdoor fun including a synthetic outdoor ice rink, multi sport pitch for football, basketball, volleyball and tennis. There is a bar, restaurant, takeaway on site. There is evening entertainment from mid July to August including weekly disco, live music, quizzes and karaoke.

In high season, an animateur arranges a variety of sports events, soirees, weekly discos in the bar and daily canoe or kayak trips on the river, which flows right past the park.

Le Clarys Plage at St Jean Plage, Vendee

The high point of many people's holiday here is the wonderful swimming pool complex with its sun terraces, outdoor pool, choice of water-slides, heated indoor pool and even a jacuzzi. And yet, the magnificent beach at Merlin Plage is just a short stroll away, with the beaches of St Jeande- Monts just a little further. Even so, superb swimming facilities and wonderful beaches are only a small part of the reason for coming to this super park. There is an excellent children's play area here, and activities are first class too, with lively regular entertainment in the bar throughout the season, sometimes going on quite late in high summer. There are also several restaurants open nearby in the height of the season. Some of our pitches are across a road from the main park facilities.

Camping les Deux Fontaines at Raguenes, Brittany

The bar and broad sun terrace overlook the excellent pool complex, including a lagoon-style pool, paddling pool with a fun octopus fountain for toddlers, plus a spiralling water chute, four lane waterslide and a brand new indoor pool for 2010. The park owners organise sports events, treasure hunts, barbecues and lively calvados tasting evenings in high season, most of the daytime activity is on the beach.
