Les Ranchisses at Largentiere, Ardeche

If relaxation is in order, the new heated outdoor pools have plenty of loungers or why not indulge in a massage in the new wellness centre which also features a fitness room. Please be aware that due to the landscape, a lot of pitches are located on steep terraces.

Camping le Clarys Plage at St Jean-Plage, Vendee

Located at the entrance to Camping le Clarys Plage are the feature waterslides and jacuzzi, fountains and bridges, as well as a separate covered pool and a paddling pool for the children. The bar terrace overlooks the pool area, providing an excellent spot to relax with a cool drink, and is the venue for the evening entertainment that takes place regularly throughout the season. There is a pizzeria on site, but no shop or restaurant, however there is a supermarket and a choice of bars and restaurants just a short walk away.

Sylvamar at Labenne Ocean, Gascony

The excellent facilities, located away from our accommodation, include a lagoon style watermark complete with waterslides and lazy river, overlooked by the modern restaurant and bar terrace. It is just a fifteen minute walk or cycle to the fine sandy beaches of this area, and water sports facilities are widely available. Whilst there is plenty to do at this well-maintained campsite, the Les Landes forest is perfect for cyclists. Campsite rules are strictly enforced for the benefit and comfort of all guests. The facilities on this park are second to none, especially the superb aquatic area with its three pools, lazy river and triple waterslide. About 900m away, you can learn to surf and body board in the spectacular Atlantic waves. There are dozens of activities for kids of all ages, as well as entertainment, cantered around the bar-restaurant every night in high season, with the promise that all will be quiet after midnight. And the park owner is keen for all rules to be respected for the benefit and comfort of all guests. Beyond the park, Labenne offers endless forest roads and cycle paths; while the town itself has a splendid outdoor market, two petting zoos, as well as the lovely Marais d'Orx nature park.

De la Baie at La Trinite-sur-Mer, Brittany

De la Baie is a relaxing site with a welcoming family atmosphere that is neatly laid out and very well looked after. It has a magical setting on a quiet wooded peninsula, beside a sweeping sandy beach backed by dunes and calm shallow waters, ideal for younger children. The park offers a wide range of organised children's activities, sports tournaments, bicycle tours and walks. It also features a lovely pool with some shade and a great waterslide. There is also an excellent bar, restaurant, and creperie, from which you can watch the children playing on the beach, or look out further to the bright sails of the windsurfers beyond. See it just once and you'll understand why Brittany's soft, sandy beaches are such a popular destination for families.

Aloha Village at Serignan Plage, Languedoc

Aloha Village is the ideal place for families who want to fill every moment of the day, and evening too. It offers two bars, a pizzeria, restaurant and ice-cream parlour, not to mention the large pool for swimmers as well as a fun pool complete with waterslide. There's also tennis, a gym and a multi-sport area for football, volleyball and basketball. 500m away there are stables for horse riding and pony trekking. Part of the prestigious Castels chain, the park owners have created a unique theme, based around the stunning wine producing chateau. Guests are able to take guided tours around the chateau and vineyard and purchase a wide variety of wine that the estate produces every year. The pitches are located amongst tranquil and picturesque oak trees and the facilities including a heated swimming pool and park restaurant, will appeal to families with young children. There is also an indoor spa, jacuzzi and sauna, and in May, June and September, you will get a free 45 minute session when you spend more than 3 nights on park (small charge otherwise). Off park try trekking at the Camargue National Park or take a ride along the 25 miles of purpose built cycle track which runs from Sommieres through the park itself.

Some of our terraced grassy emplacements look across the bay, and seawards to the ancient hilltop Fort la Latte. The site is small and beautiful and has been carefully developed to make the most of its setting. The small pool is a sun-trap; surrounded by hedges and fragrant flowers; you can relax on the sun terrace soaking up the peaceful surroundings. At the centre of the site is a picturesque small lake, a tranquil oasis for relaxing, or watching the local wildlife. The spacious bar offers excellent views across the bay and is the venue for weekly high season entertainment including family disco nights and karaoke.

The park is located in a beautiful pine forest and has some great facilities including a great pool complex with seven pools and excellent waterslides. Out of the pool there is also a lot to do with a fun adventure playground, tennis, table tennis, and all sorts of games and sports events during the busy summer months. Delightful Bordeaux and bustling Bayonne are also both within easy reach by car and the lakeside resort of Port d'Albret is a short walk away and Messanges is 3 km away.
