This Castels site has been transformed from a run down chateau. The old watermill is now the bar and the coach house and stables are now the golf club. La Bien Assise at Guines, Picardy

Although it is a popular stopover on the way further South, La Bien Assise still has much to offer for a longer stay. Set in the parklands of graceful chateau, it makes a delightful setting for the spacious pitches of this small 'Castels' park. The park has excellent facilities that include a pleasant restaurant and a covered pool, with a waterslide for the children. This relatively undiscovered area offers you the best of both worlds too, a rural setting for getting away from it all, and a coastline that teems with sandy beaches and bustling resorts. The park also organises walks in the surrounding woods and water sports enthusiasts will love nearby Lac d'Ardres.

Le Moulin de Paulhiac at Daglan, Dordogne

The facilities at this park are very modern, including a fabulous pool complex with three slides, covered pool, impeccable wash blocks and an excellent take-away and restaurant. Le Moulin de Paulhiac has a beautifully restored watermill that welcomes you at the entrance and is a rural park with large grassy pitches set amidst the dappled shade of walnut, oak and apple trees. The owners also organise activities in high season, which include popular canoe trips. This is the real heart of the Dordogne too, with rolling wooded hillsides, sleepy, honey-coloured villages, crumbling old farmhouses and castles galore to discover.

Chateau de Drancourt at St Valery, Picardy

Being situated just three miles from St Valery and amidst the lush meadows of a private chateau; this Castels site has lovely spacious parklands. The owners have created a family atmosphere with some excellent facilities situated around the chateau include swimming pools surrounded by a sun terrace. Children will love the play areas and the three pools, one of which is covered, while the golf range is popular with absolutely everyone. For the active there are tennis, mountain bike hire and a golf driving range. The restaurant and cosy lounge bar are perfect places to spend the evening. There are many wide, sandy beaches along this stretch of coastline.

Camping le Ruisseau at Biarritz, Gascony

Camping le Ruisseau is a well equipped, top quality family run site. Situated in the Basque country and close to the sea, the majestic peaks of the Pyrenees rise in the distance. The pitches here are set in shady oak land and the site boasts its own lake, which is ideal for a quiet spot of carp fishing. The fantastic pool complex incorporates waterslides, a jacuzzi, sauna and an expansive sun terrace. Sports opportunities are plentiful take to the tennis courts or the gymnasium, while young children will love the excellent play area and trampolines. In the evenings, entertainment is laid on during the height of the summer in the popular lively bar and on the terrace. The site lies close to a motorway but traffic noise is minimal.

Camping le Chatelet at St Cast, Brittany

Camping le Chatelet is a gem, set amidst rolling heath land with breathtaking sea views. Some of our terraced grassy emplacements look across the bay, and seawards to the ancient hilltop Fort la Latte. The site is small and beautiful and has been carefully developed to make the most of its setting. The small pool is a sun-trap; surrounded by hedges and fragrant flowers; you can relax on the sun terrace soaking up the peaceful surroundings. At the centre of the site is a picturesque small lake, a tranquil oasis for relaxing, or watching the local wildlife. The spacious bar offers excellent views across the bay and is the venue for weekly high season entertainment including family disco nights and karaoke.

Yelloh Village la Petite Camargue at Aigues-Mortes, Languedoc

While the site is quiet in low season, this is a lively site in July and August that makes a great location for a family holiday. There are excellent facilities for the whole family here, including a large swimming pool (complete with shallow area for toddlers), plus a range of activities, including horse riding, bike hire and tennis. The pitches are partially shaded by tall trees, relax here with a good book, or enjoy a cooling drink at the bar terrace which overlooks the pool. As evening falls, enjoy a delicious meal at the restaurant before watching the organised entertainment. Teenagers especially will enjoy the nightly disco.

Ville Franche at Villefranche, Riviera

A beautiful, pastel-painted town at the head of the French Riveria, Villefranche is a small town of only 8,000 inhabitants but, within its limits you'll discover a walled citadel, Gothic churches, and ancient harbour, all a delight. For a change of pace, the glamour and pulse of Monte Carlo is just a short drive away. Drive inland over rolling hills to St. Paul de Vence, a walled hill fort which dates back to the middle ages. Back in Villefranche, take your pick from a string of harbourside restaurants, offering decidedly Italian-influenced meals, each more inviting than the next.

Les Mouettes at Carantec, Brittany

Les Mouettes is situated near one of the most beautiful bays on the Breton coast. Carantec has a feeling of peace and spaciousness that makes it a popular choice with families. Mature trees and shrubs enhance the park area where most of the pitches are grassy and some are partly shaded but, there are also some large, sunny pitches. One of the main attractions is the impressive swimming pool complex overlooked by the bar terrace, where the children will enjoy floating along the lazy river surrounding the huge water chutes. They can also try their hand at the unusual 18-hole crazy-golf course, not forgetting the beach is just 1.5km away. The picturesque old port of Roscoff is near by and offers boat trips to the island of Batz.

Sylvamar at Labenne Ocean, Gascony

Camping Sylvamar is part of the Yelloh! Village chain of campsites. The excellent facilities, located away from our accommodation, include a lagoon style watermark complete with waterslides and lazy river, overlooked by the modern restaurant and bar terrace. It is just a fifteen minute walk or cycle to the fine sandy beaches of this area, and water sports facilities are widely available. Whilst there is plenty to do at this well-maintained campsite, the Les Landes forest is perfect for cyclists. Campsite rules are strictly enforced for the benefit and comfort of all guests. The facilities on this park are second to none, especially the superb aquatic area with its three pools, lazy river and triple waterslide. About 900m away, you can learn to surf and body board in the spectacular Atlantic waves. There are dozens of activities for kids of all ages, as well as entertainment, cantered around the bar-restaurant every night in high season, with the promise that all will be quiet after midnight. And the park owner is keen for all rules to be respected for the benefit and comfort of all guests. Beyond the park, Labenne offers endless forest roads and cycle paths; while the town itself has a splendid outdoor market, two petting zoos, as well as the lovely Marais d'Orx nature park.

Cala Gogo at St Cyprien, Languedoc

A pleasant French atmosphere awaits you at the Cala Gogo park. It is a spacious park which is ideal for a lively family holiday. The site has an attractive swimming pool complex which can even accommodate scuba-diving lessons in high season. For older children there is a games room on site and a regular disco. You can relax at the bar and eat in the excellent restaurant in the evenings. Cala Gogo is just 1.5 kilometres from St Cyprien and 26 kilometres south of Perpignan.

Le Clarys Plage at St Jean Plage, Vendee

In a very popular family area, this excellent park is regarded as one of the best in the Vendee. It is located close to the beach, just a ten minute walk, and five miles south of the busy town of St Jean-de-Monts (which also has some great beaches). The focal point of this modern park is the swimming complex that has outdoor and indoor pools, heated pools, jacuzzi and slides/chutes. There is also an excellent children's play area, which along with the many activities makes this a popular family resort. The park runs entertainment throughout the season and there are many local restaurants close by.

Les Peneyrals at Salignac, Dordogne

Les Peneyrals is superbly positioned just a short drive from the Dordogne valley. A friendly, family-run park with helpful owners who are always on hand. The high quality facilities include a wonderful pool complex with three swimming pools, water-slides and a heated children's pool. Best of all, everything is kept absolutely immaculate. Surrounded by lush green countryside the park enjoys plenty of shade from established trees and even has its own charming little lake, which is a popular spot for fishing. The owners arrange a variety of traditional entertainment throughout the season too, including live bands and weekly discos in high season. And as well as all the other attractions of the Dordogne, both Salignac and Sarlat are just a short drive away.

Les Rivages de Rochelongue at Cap d'Agde, Languedoc

Agde is one of France's oldest towns and boasts 14km of beautiful fine sandy beaches, with scattered basalt cliffs and small rocky islands. Cap d'Agde is an ideal starting point for exploring the hinterland's rich cultural heritage, including its outstanding archaeological heritage where at the heart of the town is the impressive fortified Romanesque cathedral built of volcanic stone. The apartment is situated 50m from the sea front and is a lively resort with its own private swimming pool. Nearby are many cycle routes which are a perfect way to explore, as well as scuba diving and hiking trials.

Domaine de la Rive at Biscarosse, Gascony

This park is nestled amongst acres of the famous Landaise Forests. Apart from boasting one of the best lakeside beaches in the South West and being awarded the prestigious La Clef Verte award, the owner has created a superb water park, which is being expanded to include a wave pool, jacuzzi, spa and massage water beds, all under a retractable dome roof. If you can tear yourself away from this, then you can indulge in a spot of tennis, archery or petanque. The delightful bar and restaurant overlook a well equipped and spacious play area and the quaint town of Biscarosse with its bars, shops and nightlife only a short drive away.

Holiday Green at Frejus, Cote d'Azur

The huge Californian pool complex is great fun for all the family and includes a children's pool with water games, and a covered heated pool, toboggans, solarium and jacuzzi. Throughout the season there are aqua aerobics, water polo and water volleyball tournament and in July and August swimming lessons, fun waterskiing and even deep-sea diving instruction. The park has a restaurant, bar, supermarket, fitness room, tennis court, boules pitch, archery and mountain biking. There is also free evening entertainment and themed restaurant nights. Due to the undulating nature of the terrain on this park and the placement of some of the pitches on quite steep terraces, this park is not ideal for those with mobility problems.

Ciboure at Ciboure, Gascony

Sheltered in the calmer waters of the St Jean de Luz bay, the water sports and activities here are a degree or two more chilled out than at the larger resorts to the north. Ciboure offers all the exhilaration for those who like to take the air, or even take to the waters, in relative peace and tranquillity. On land the accent is on quiet enjoyment, Ciboure is calm compared to its busy fishing port neighbour of Saint Jean-de-Luz, but there is still plenty to keep you busy. You're not too far from the Spanish border, with the beautiful Pyrenees rising in the south.

Lacs du Verdon at Regusse, Riviera

Les Lacs du Verdon is a Provencal holiday park that is perfect for an activty family holiday. This is a large parc situated in a 225 acre park of oak trees and fragrant scrubland. Close by are the Gorges du Verdon which are one of the deepest and most beautiful river valleys in Europe with a sparkling bright green lake. In the local Provence area there is so much to keep you entertained including walking, climbing, rafting and mountain biking. At the holiday park itself you will find a water park with slides, a heated swimming pool and a toddlers paddling pool. On site amenities include a snack bar, restaurant, cake shop and takeaway.

Le Clarys Plage at St Jean Plage, Vendee

The high point of many people's holiday here is the wonderful swimming pool complex with its sun terraces, outdoor pool, choice of water-slides, heated indoor pool and even a jacuzzi. And yet, the magnificent beach at Merlin Plage is just a short stroll away, with the beaches of St Jeande- Monts just a little further. Even so, superb swimming facilities and wonderful beaches are only a small part of the reason for coming to this super park. There is an excellent children's play area here, and activities are first class too, with lively regular entertainment in the bar throughout the season, sometimes going on quite late in high summer. There are also several restaurants open nearby in the height of the season. Some of our pitches are across a road from the main park facilities.
